First Fridays in Downtown Sarasota
Downtown Sarasota offers live entertainment from Main Street to Palm Avenue the first Friday of every month. Enjoy watching the street performers and be sure to check out some of the top rated restaurants right nearby as well as great shopping options. There’s no cost to take part in the event, but you may want to bring some small bills with you to tip the entertainers.
The 2016 Sizzlin’ Summer Concert Series in Nokomis
If you want yet another free concert experience, check out the 2016 Sizzlin’ Summer Concert Series sponsored by Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources. This year’s line-up features ‘One Night Rodeo,’ the winner of the Next Great American Country Star competition. You’re welcome to bring your blankets, lawn chairs, and beverages, but be sure to avoid bringing glass. The concert location is at 234 E. Nippino Trail in Nokomis. Check details for location changes.
The Annual Pioneer Days Festival and Parade
Make the trip to Englewood this Anna Maria Island Labor Day Weekend to enjoy the grand finale of the Annual Pioneer Days Festival and Parade. The two-week-long Festival and Parade ends on Labor Day at 9 am. It’s a perfect family vacation experience that offers cardboard boat races, a shipwreck dance, open car show, a diaper derby, and so much more. Corvette fans will love the Corvette car show. The festival events take place at different locations and times throughout the day. The festival website provides more details about each specific event but the Pioneer Days Festival is held in Pioneer Park over two days on the first weekend of September.
