Fortunately, there are several coffee houses on Anna Maria Island that will meet your daily java requirements.

Island Coffee Haus

This Anna Maria coffee shop serves espresso-based drinks hot or iced – perfect for those who want hot coffee in the morning and a cold one midday to beat the Florida sun. Don’t forget to bring your mug for a discount on every cup. If you’re staying at one of our Anna Maria vacation rentals, buy a bag of ground coffee to take home.

Island Coffee Haus also offers teas from a local company, smoothies, and cold-pressed green juice. Pick up a bagel, pastry, or breakfast sandwich for an on-the-go meal.

They have two locations, one in Holmes Beach and another on Pine Avenue, are open at 7 a.m. daily. Closing hours vary based on location and day of the week.

Back Alley Gift & Coffee Shop

This Anna Maria coffee and gift shop is a three-for-one stop. It offers a place to have an excellent espresso, enjoy a light lunch, and browse some of the most eccentric local art.

If you’re in the mood for an afternoon cappuccino, Back Alley has a table for you. You can get any espresso-based drink hot or cold, or a regular cup of drip coffee. For those who are already sufficiently caffeinated, the shop also serves smoothies, frozen lemonade, beer, and wine. Grab a sandwich or wrap for a quick lunch on a day full of activities.

Be sure to browse the pottery, stained glass, jewelry, and recycled art that lines the walls of this funky café. Back Alley is located on Bridge Street in Bradenton Beach.

Paradise Bagels

This Holmes Beach haunt is known for two things: bagels and all-you-can-drink coffee.

Far from a franchise breakfast chain, this cafe boasts New York-style bagels topped, sandwiched, or plain with butter. Try their “Eggel,” a classic breakfast bagel with egg, cheese, and a choice of meat. The lox platter is another favorite. This Anna Maria coffee shop might serve in quantity, but it also hot, fresh, and tasty – not to mention bottomless.

Paradise Bagels is open every day of the year from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. (1 p.m. on Sunday) for breakfast and lunch.

Hometown Desserts

Hometown Desserts might have a reputation for extravagant cakes for weddings and birthdays, but you can also stop by for a tasty coffee and little something to go with it.

Some say the iced coffee at Hometown Desserts is the best on the island. Get a regular one, or try a flavor like salted caramel or white chocolate. This is a great place to try fun coffee flavors in Florida. They also serve flavored iced teas, like beach and raspberry, sweetened or unsweetened, as well as other drinks. Combine your drink with a slice of Key Lime Coconut Cake, and you’re in for a treat.

Hometown Desserts’ cozy bakery atmosphere is perfect for relaxing after an afternoon of shopping. Hometown Desserts is open Monday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Donut Experiment

If you’re like us, your coffee cravings are often accompanied by an aching sweet tooth. To satisfy this craving duo, head to The Donut Experiment on Pine Avenue.

Not only does this shop always have a fresh pot brewing, but it serves made-to-order donuts with tons of flavors. Order yours with Oreo crumbs, chocolate chips, coconut, or fruity cereal. The Key Lime donut, made with real lime and graham cracker, is a local favorite.

Cut the sugar with a strong cup of cold-brewed iced coffee, which is made overnight without using heat. This technique gives it a rounder, less acidic flavor than a standard iced coffee. This might be some of the best coffee of AMI.
