One of the best things about the Anna Maria Island area is the many Farmers Markets that offer a wide selection of fresh produce, unique items from local vendors, jewelry, arts and crafts, and much more. Starting in November and up until April (with some continuing even later), Anna Maria Island Farmers Markets become a regular event every weekend. Visiting the farmer’s markets has become one of the most popular things to do in the area, especially during the winter and spring months.
If you plan on booking a vacation rental from Lizzie Lu’s Island Retreat and you don’t mind a little cooking, you can prepare some amazing organic homemade meals using whole foods in your fully equipped kitchen. Plan a vacation to Anna Maria Island this winter or spring and save money on restaurant and dining costs. You will find everything you need for delicious, healthy meals from the many great farmer’s markets in the area.
The Bridge Street Farmers Market offers a wide range of art items and quality ingredients
The historic Bridge Street Farmers Market at 107 Bridge Street in Bradenton Beach has become an Anna Maria Island tradition. It is open on Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., November through April. This open-air market offers live music, great cuisine, handmade crafts, and much more.
The Bridge Street Market has more of an artistic side to it, as you’ll find local vendors selling their handmade jewelry, sculptures, photography and other types of art. It’s the perfect place to pick up a unique souvenir to take back home or share as a gift. You’ll also find the high quality produce needed for gourmet cooking if you are planning on preparing meals while staying in your vacation rental.
The Coquina Beach market occurs every Sunday on Anna Maria Island
Open every Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. from November through July (except for Easter) you can visit the interesting and eclectic Coquina Beach market at 2650 Gulf Dr. S in Bradenton Beach.
Accessible by the free Anna Maria Island trolley, this market offers similar types of fresh produce that you would find at the Bridge Street Market along with clothing, jewelry, collectibles, purses, pottery, health and beauty items, and other unique crafts and artworks. This location isn’t as crowded as other farmers markets in the area and is more easily accessible for wheelchairs, strollers, and walkers.
Head over to downtown Bradenton for even more variety
The Downtown Bradenton Farmers Market is a relatively new event that occurs on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. from October to May on 400 Old Main St.
It doesn’t have the history of the Anna Maria Island farmers markets, but it has quickly become one of the biggest events in the area with a diverse range of vendors. Here you’ll find gourmet packaged foods, locally grown fruits, and vegetables, fresh seafood, and other great ingredients for cooking. You can also witness local chefs performing live demos to get some ideas for your next great meal.
