The Star Fish Company first opened in the 1950s, and was known as a great location to purchase fresh seafood that was locally caught. It wasn’t until 1996 after the company was sold to Karen Bell that it became a restaurant as well, serving up these simple yet delicious dishes that incorporate the fresh seafood that the company had been selling all those years prior. Close to many Lizzie Lu beachfront accommodations, this little eatery is well worth the stop, but be sure to bring cash!
Cortez Village, where Star Fish Company is located, is found on the northern edge of Sarasota Bay. It is one of the few remaining working fishing waterfronts left in Florida. The view from Star’s dock is incredible. It includes mangrove islands, Jewfish Key, Longboat Key and Bradenton Beach. Add to that the local commercial fishing fleet and you’ve got one of the most scenic places found on Florida’s Gulf coast.Contact Information
